Hotel Information
Most people prefer not to do this trip on a rush basis and choose to add on a day or so to their trip. This is a really good idea for many reasons. There may also be a need for travelers to stay a night in Miami or Los Angeles in order to be near the airport for the international flight to Manaus Brazil. Some of this really depends on where you are coming from and how much time you have away from work and home. Here are some tips.
1. When booking an overnight hotel stay on your way to Manaus it is conveiniant to stay in a hotel near the airport. Make sure that the hotel offers 24 hour shuttle service to the airport. Some hotels only do this from 6:00am to 10:00pm for example. Most of the flights from the U.S. to Manaus leave in the morning and they would like you to be at the airport 2-3 hours in advance. (error on the 3 hour side on this one). Check with the front desk and make sure they know your flight times and the time you would like to leave the hotel for the airport when you check in. Sometimes this may be 3:00am so it is best to give them a heads up.

2. It is highly reccomended that you add at least one day on the front end of your trip. this allows a buffer day incase anything goes wrong on your way to Brazil. You could miss a connection due to weather or flight delays etc. It is very important to be in Manaus on time to catch your flight to camp. There are no extra flights to camp and it is very expensive to get there if you are late getting to Manaus. If everything goes smoothly as it usually does, it will give you an extra day in Manaus and time to relax by the pool, get used to any time change and also get aclimated to the weather.
Miami – The most conveinient thing about staying over in Miami is that there is a hotel in the Miami Airport. The Miami Airport Hotel allows you to walk to your gate from your hotel room without taking a shuttle. It is really nice to wake up and not have to worry about a shuttle or the time it takes to get to the airport from a hotel nearby.
While in Miami if you have time, not too far away is the International Game Fish Hall Of Fame and right next door is a huge Bass Pro Shops Store. Both worth seeing if you have time. If you have time for dinner while staying in Miami there is a restaurant 3 miles from the Ariport called The Catch Of the Day. It is a Seafood restaraunt with some Cuban influence. They offer outdoor seating and the menu is huge. The Fried Grouper and the Conch Fritters are to die for.
