Flies
In 2002 Andy Burk and Rob Anderson went on their first Peacock Bass Fly Fishing trip to the Amazon. Over the next few years the two of them designed many Peacock Bass flies.
Rob’s famous Reducer fly became the #1 streamer fly for many Peacock Bass anglers and is tied commercially and sold in many fly shops. In the last couple of years Rob’s Space Invader, Bottom Dweller and Charlie’s Airhead have given anglers 4 great streamers that can cover just about any situation.
Conventional anglers spend most of their time casting Top Water lures to these aggresive fish. Woodchoopers and Zara Spooks are two of the most popular Top Water lures. Fly tier Charlie Bisarat has burst on the Top Water scene with the “Pole Dancer that swims just like a Zara Spook and Rob desinged the “Chopper Popper” to imitate the famous Woodchopper Lure back in 2003. Charlies Puckerlip and Troy Bauchmann’s Master Jack Popper are also great Top Water flies for Peacock Bass.
We have Flies for sale for both our clients or the general public going on their own Peacock Trip. We tie and sell over 1000 Peacock Bass Flies each year. If you are going to the Amazon and are in need of the best flies available it would be worth your time to give Rob Anderson a call to discuss a fly package for your trip. These flies take time to tie so give us as much notice as possible. We recommend an angler has 4 dozen flies for a trip to the Jungle. Once you arrive there is usually no place to buy flies.
